About the Community of La Mesa
Meaning “the Table” or “the Plateau” in Spanish due to the geography, La Mesa sits just 9 miles east of downtown San Diego and approximately 12 mi (19 km) east of the Pacific Ocean. Primarily developed in the 1940’s and 1950’s La Mesa has a true “main street” (La Mesa Blvd) and the Trolley stops in the heart of this village like town. Community events include summertime car shows and lively Octoberfest celebrations.
About the Community of Mt. Helix
Named after a European snail found living on the mountain near La Mesa, California, by Rufus King Porter in 1872, Mt Helix, offers some of the best scenic views! From this 360-degree vista one can see the City of San Diego, the Pacific Ocean to the West and views of the local South and East San Diego County mountains. It is one of the few areas within a reasonable commute to Downtown San Diego that has a feeling of spaciousness, privacy and echos of the Northwest.
